Johns Creek Purchases 133 Acres of Land
The Johns Creek City Council authorized the Mayor on Nov. 16 to execute a purchase agreement for approximately 133 acres of land for recreation and parks.
“I am very pleased for our residents that City Council authorized this significant purchase,” said Mayor Mike Bodker. “This large tract of land provides the city additional park space, and will add to the high quality of life in Johns Creek. The public has said loud and clear that adding park space in Johns Creek is a high priority.”
The property will be used for recreation and/or open space for the benefit of the public. It is located in the eastern half of the city adjacent to the Rogers Bridge Trail and the proposed Rogers Bridge connection to Duluth. The property has vehicular access from Bell Road and has nearly 2,000 ft of frontage along the Chattahoochee River.
The final park site plan has yet to be determined and the public will have input into the final park layout.

Enter Your Group in the Johns Creek Founders Day Parade
There’s still time to enter your group in Johns Creek’s Founders Day Parade!
Build friendships, a sense of community and a float for the 9th Annual Johns Creek Founders Day Parade scheduled for Dec. 5.
The Founders Day Parade caps a week of festivities that celebrates the City’s incorporation in 2006. The 1.4-mile-long parade has grown in popularity with an estimated 10,000 people lining the mile-long route on State Bridge Road.
Competition is spirited as groups and organizations vie for Best Subdivision, Best Business/Civic Group, and Best School/Scout float. When you do your planning, remember that there’s only one Santa, and he rides in a firetruck at the end. Also, keep a look-out for the JCCA as we will be riding in the parade!

Ham Radio Parity Act Passes Senate
On November 18, the Amateur Radio Parity Act (S. 1685) passed the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation by a voice vote.
S. 1685 replaces community associations’ guidelines and rules and imposes a federal standard for approval of the installation of HAM radio towers and antennas. If this bill should become law, community associations would lose the ability to create reasonable processes and aesthetic guidelines, of which are essential to preserving property values and ensuring the safety of homeowners.
